摘要
•Administration of platelet-rich plasma after radiation modified activin A/follistatin signaling.•Early PRP-induced activin A/follistatin signaling provided inflammatory response strong enough to clear the debris.•Later, activin A/follistatin signaling was inhibited, inducing polarization into the healing phenotype, M2 macrophages.•M2 macrophages phenotype was found to express dectin-1 which guarantees efficient uptake of tumor cells.•PRP administration post radiation enhanced the healing process and decreased the potential for radiation-induced malignancy.
