Ramelteon reduces serum LDL and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with insomnia.

Aim: Melatonin has been suggested to play important roles in lipid metabolism; however, very few studies explored the effects of ramelteon, a selective melatonin receptor agonist, on serum lipid profiles. In this study, therefore, effects of ramelteon on serum lipid profiles were explored, comparing to those of other sleep-promoting drugs, in patients with insomnia.
