A novel fully automatic measurement of apparent breast volume from trunk surface mesh.

•A first fully-automatic method for assessing breast volume from trunk surface mesh is proposed.•Volumes measured automatically are highly correlated to manually segmented MRI volumes, but are smaller.•For the first time, we prove that this difference is also marked even when comparing volumes in the same posture.•The proposed method is robust to change between standing and prone posture.
