Abstract
•The mechanism involved in stromal cell–derived factor-1α (SDF-1α)–mediated migration of stem cells from apical papilla (SCAPs) was investigated.•Inhibition of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) and protein kinase C (PKC) pathway reduced SDF-1α–mediated migration of SCAPs.•PI3K and PKC pathways are involved in SDF-1α–stimulated focal adhesion formation.•Phosphorylation of p85 and PKC is involved in the activated SDF-1α/CXCR4 axis.
