An exact static solution approach for the service parts end-of-life inventory problem.

•Static version of end-of-life service parts inventory problem is optimally solved.•We show that, for any given τ, the expected total cost function is convex in x.•An algorithm is developed to find the optimal values of decision variables.•Expected total cost of static policy is comparable to the dynamic heuristic one.
