Abstract
Producing companies are facing rising numbers of variants and increasing international competition. Therefore, many companies seek to enable their production systems for mass customization. Especially in manual assembly, rising complexity can lead to lower productivity and higher error rates. In order to master growing complexity, assistance systems are introduced in manual assembly to support assembly workers by providing, transmitting and receiving relevant information. Since digitization influences entire work environments, knowledge and experience about digital technologies is needed in producing companies for the introduction process. In order to develop digital competences of production managers, this paper presents an interactive learning module in the Learning Factory for Cyber-physical Production Systems (CPPS). Based on an assembly scenario of remote-controlled cars, participants can experience the difference between paper-based and paperless assembly. This learning module shows new challenges for shopfloor managers, intra logistics as well as assembly workers. In an industrial assembly scenario with rising level of digitization, the participants discuss in a moderated workshop the impact of digitization on their own factory with experts from the learning factory.
