Role of arboreous species in the functioning of landscapes of fir-broadleaved forests in the southern part of Primorskii krai

The role of arboreous species in the functioning of low-mountain landscapes of fir ( Abies holophylla )-broadleaved forests in the southern part of the Primorskii krai is evaluated. The structure of this forest formation and parameters of biological turnover in the main structural-functional units (parcels) of the fir-broadleaved forests and soil is investigated. Leaf fall, forest litter, and the composition of macroelements in assimilating organs of trees (leaves and needles) are studied. It is revealed that high-ash leaf trees, hornbeam and lianas in particular, considerably increase the capacity and rate of biological turnover and maintain the biological productivity and stable functioning of the investigated landscapes.
