Abstract
Millimeter wave multiple input and multiple out-put(MIMO) technique and large-scale antenna system(LSAS) have been becoming the key techniques of the fifth-generation(5G) communication for its high channel capacity and high spectrum efficiency(SE) and energy efficiency(EE), and the codebook-based beamforming(BF) technique which can greatly enhance the receiving performance of the oriented mobile station(MS) develops to the focus in practical base station(BS) deployment in recent years. However, the typical BF method using limited feedback precoding is highly complex and low-efficient because codeword searching period and channel state information(CSI) feedback period are inevitable before payload transmitting. In this paper, a position-based BF system employing 3D image reconstruction with the assistant of the co-located cameras is proposed, furthermore, the EE and SE performance of this system is detailedly investigated. The numerical results show that it brings an obvious improvement compared to limited feedback BF system. Also, a prototyping testbed about this innovative thought is built with hardware and software platform USRP and LabView communication suite.
