Tin monosulfide (SnS) thin films grown by liquid-phase deposition

•SnS thin films were fabricated using two types of precursors: solution precursor and liquid precursor.•Thin film deposited by solution precursor showed binary phases such as SnS2 and SnO2 along with the trace amount of SnS.•For liquid precursor, single phase SnS was achieved easily at annealing temperature 500°C for 30min reaction time.
