Corridor-based metro network design with travel flow capture.

•We consider the problem of locating a metro network in a city.•We maximize traffic capture from other modes. Capture depends on travel time ratios.•The alignments are to be located within some corridors suggested by the algorithm.•The problem is solved by means of an iterative matheuristic.•Computational results are reported for the city of Concepción, Chile.
