•Iliac bare metal stent infection is a rare complication associated with morbidity.•Pseudoaneurysm formation and septic embolization are presentation signs.•Stent resection and in situ reconstruction with femoral vein is a definitive treatment.•Re-intervention and use of local antimitotic drugs could be potential risk factors.
