Cloning and expression of the recombinant crustacean hyperglycemic hormone isoform B2 (rCHH-B2) and its effects on the metabolism and osmoregulation of the Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei.

•CHH-B2 from L. vannamei was expressed in yeast with a free C-terminus (rCHH-B2-Gly).•Dose-dependent effects of rCHH-B2-Gly to glucose and triglyceride were observed.•rCHH-B2-Gly modified the osmoregulatory capacity of hyper-osmotic shrimp.•rCHH-B2-amide enhanced the glucose and triglyceride compared to rCHH-B2-Gly.•The C-terminal region seems relevant for the activity of CHHs of L. vannamei.
