Automated annotation and classification of BI-RADS assessment from radiology reports

•We developed an NLP system to extract all BI-RADS categories from breast radiology reports.•We evaluate the results of existing of an NLP system using a multi-step approach.•ML classifiers can detect and assign laterality to all BI-RADS categories in a single report.
