•A systematic correlation of SEC and CE-SDS methods for monitoring hinge fragments in monoclonal antibodies was presented.•CE-SDS showed strong correlation with SEC for monitoring antibody fragments.•CE-SDS should provide adequate information on antibody fragments where SEC is not applicable.
