Clinical effect of traditional Chinese spinal orthopedic manipulation in treatment of Functional Abdominal Pain Syndrome.

•Traditional Chinese Spinal Orthopedic Manipulation (TCSOM) for treating Functional Abdominal Pain Syndrome (FAPS).•The therapeutic result of the TCSOM in this study shows that symptoms are reduced, resolve/disappear or are relieved immediately after treatment.•The results of this study suggest that the displacement of intervertebral disc of the thoracic and/or lumbar vertebrae is a contributing factor to the development of FAPS.•There are not effective therapeutics being medical filed accepted for FAPS till now. In this research, the patients’ abdominal pain symptoms of the TCSOM group disappeared or significantly improved soon after TCSOM. So, TCSOM could serve as a good alternative or supplementary treatment for FAPS.
