Magnetic sublattices in Np 2 Co 17 and Np 2 Ni 17

Rare-earth-based compounds R 2 T 17 (R=Rare earth; T=Transition metal) have been extensively studied and developed for applications as permanent magnets. The actinide-based analogues, however, are much less documented and we report here about the magnetic properties of Np 2 Co 17 and Np 2 Ni 17 , as inferred from 237 Np Mössbauer spectroscopy, the best resonance in actinides, and specific heat.
