•The reproductive system of Dorippe sinica consists of two separated structures.•Sperm is stored in a segmental seminal receptacle exclusively lined by cuticle.•The seminal receptacle is connected to the genital opening via a concave vagina.•The oviduct is connected directly to the vulva and lined by glandular epithelium.•Fertilization can take place at the genital opening at the earliest.
