摘要
Demand of bandwidth, high data rate applications and link reliability is increasing rapidly for past few years. New technologies are required to fulfill these challenges. GPON is the best technology for the next generation fiber to the system which will be able to provide reliable and high data rate communication but the increase in data rate and transmission distance causes increase in dispersion. It occurs when different frequencies or mode of light in optical fiber are received by the receivers at different time and it increases with an increase in fiber length. This is the major cause for breaking down quality of signal in optical fiber. Different modulation techniques are used to reduce the effect of dispersion, and improve the performance of the optical system. In this work the performance of advance optical modulation formats CSRZ, DRZ & MDRZ, in terms of eye diagram, Q-factor and BER in 2 & 2.5Gbps GPON system is evaluated. The performance of all these modulation formats is presented and compared by varying the transmission distance and data rate through various simulation scenarios in Optisystem. It is observed that MDRZ gives dispersion less transmission and less BER for long distance transmission.
