Predictors of overall survival in human papillomavirus-associated oropharyngeal cancer using the National Cancer Data Base.

•Multimodality treatment improves OS in HPV-positive stage III–IVB disease.•AJCC stage was poorly associated with survival in HPV-positive cancers.•Positive margins and/or ECE predicts OS in HPV negative but not positive disease.•Traditional high-risk features may be less impactful in HPV-positive disease.
