SU‐E‐J‐141: A Patient Specific Anthropomorphic Breathing Phantom for Clinically Realistic Imaging and Dosimetry Studies

Abstract
Purpose: This project sought to create a patient specific dynamic phantom setup utilizing 3D printing to fabricate realistic target volumes derived from planning CTs.Materials/Methods: The anthropomorphic phantom is a modified Alderson Phantom (The Dynamic Breathing Phantom by Radiology Support Devices). The original lung system was removed and replaced with a new foam rubber structure having lung‐equivalent density. Using patient CT data, tumor models were manufactured using a 3D printer. With the planning image set as a guide, the tumor was positioned within the anthropomorphic phantom to match the relative tumor positioning within the patient. The patient‐specific phantom setup was then imaged under both CT and MV fluoroscopy and compared to the previously acquired patient imaging. Results: These patient‐specific phantom configurations accurately reflect their respective patient's treatment planning CTs. MV fluoroscopy of the phantom demonstrated both accurate positioning when compared to patient DRRs and accurate recreation of respiratory motion as compared to 4DCT data. Conclusion: This patient‐specific anthropomorphic breathing phantom will allow for further realistic motion management studies with applications in both imaging and dose delivery.
