Polymers [OPhCOOPh(N=NPhCN)OCOPhO(CH 2 ) 6 ] n and [COCH([CH 2 ] 6 OPhN=NPhNO 2 )COO(CH 2 ) 6 O] n were studied. The direct connection of the azobenzene unit with the main chain results in a higher glass temperature ans quite lower relaxation frequencies of the azobenzene. The relaxation frequencies of the polar groups in the main chain are also strongly decreased
