摘要

•Cervico-vaginal specimens applied to FTA cards can be stored for at least 1 year at room temperature before human papillomavirus (HPV) detection and genotyping.•A high level of overall agreement of HPV detection and genotyping between liquid-based medium and FTA cards was observed.•HPV DNA load remained stable on FTA cards following 1, 6 and 12 month storage.
