摘要
The Colonoscopy Force Monitor (CFM) quantifies endoscopy technique by real-time measurement of linear and rotational force applied to the colonoscopy insertion tube. Prior observational studies suggested that force application was higher in patients receiving propofol anesthesia. Because of the significant variation among endoscopists, a study using the next generation CFM4 device was designed to evaluate the role of anesthesia on force application. The present study is a randomized unblinded study of the effect of anesthesia on applied force during colonoscopy. The primary hypothesis was that peak push force is increased in patients receiving propofol as compared to moderate sedation.
