Tu1311 A FISH Biomarker Panel for Distinguishing Different Stages of Dysplasia in Barrett's Esophagus

Barrett's esophagus (BE) may progress from intestinal metaplasia (IM) through the sequence of low- and high-grade dysplasia (HGD) to esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). The detection and grading of dysplasia on four-quadrant biopsies is subject to sampling error and substantial inter- and intra-observer variability among pathologists. The use of genetic biomarkers on brush cytology specimens may improve accurate detection and grading of dysplasia and enhance the yield of endoscopic surveillance.
