Su1509 Migration Rates of Wallflex Fully-Covered Self-Expanding Metal Stent (FCSEMS) in Malignant and Benign Disease

Self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) allow for the effective treatment of benign and malignant biliary disease. The WallflexTM FCSEMS (Boston Scientific) has a full silicone coating that allows for reliable removability after deployment. As the silicone coating limits engagement of the stent with the biliary epithelium, stent migration rate is significantly increased as compared to stents without coatings. Although the Wallflex is the most frequently used FCSEMS in this country, migration rates for this stent, based on the available literature, remain disparate.
