Mohs Micrographic surgery for head and neck lesions: A six years single centre experience
British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery(2014)
Abstract
Introduction: Mohs Micrographic surgery (MMS) was first reported by Fredrick Mohs in the 1940's as chemosurgery and later refined to its current state. This involves a combination of staged excision and comprehensive histological margin assessment. British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) recommend its use for high risk BCC's of the facial region. MMS offers a 99% 5-years cure rate for primary BCC's and 94.5% for recurrent lesions.
