The seismogenic deformation and Qp temporal variation before the M6.2 Mingjen earthquake, Taiwan

•Using the intrinsic attenuative dispersion of the P-wave to serve as an anomaly before Mingjen earthquake.•GPS stations also are utilized to examine changes during the Mingjen earthquake.•The leading time in Qp and GPS are different owing to the stress propagation in the underground.•An impeded region can be identified from the analysis in Qp and GPS measurements.
