Abstract
Study objective: Postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) is the main complication of pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and may significantly impact on morbidity. Different studies report incidence of POPF from 3 to 30%. Although many technical modifications have been suggested to reduce POPF, a standard procedure regarding an optimal surgical technique for the pancreaticoenteric anastomosis has yet to be established. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of a standardized surgical technique for pancreaticojejunal anastomosis on POPF rate.
