Mineralogy and environmental relevance of AMD-precipitates from the Tharsis mines, Iberian Pyrite Belt (SW, Spain)

•This paper describes solid phases associated to AMD in a massive sulfide deposit.•The study was performed in Tharsis mines, in the Iberian Pyrite Belt.•The AMD-precipitates are dominated by efflorescent sulfate minerals.•There are two mineralogical environments differentiated by composition and variety.•The open pits reflect a proximal paragenesis; the Meca River reflects a distal one.
