Abstract
The compounding of intravenous products by pharmacy personnel is guided by a strict set of guidelines called USP797. These guidelines are rather strenuous for pharmacy technicians, and in some cases, were being considered as excessive and unnecessary by members of the pharmacy staff. In an attempt to positively influence both attitudes and behaviors within the department, a demonstration with Glo Germ, was prepared to educate on the importance of these guidelines as they relate to infection prevention and patient safety.
