Comparison of the efficacy of Neethling lumpy skin disease virus and x10RM65 sheep-pox live attenuated vaccines for the prevention of lumpy skin disease – The results of a randomized controlled field study

•Neethling and RM65 vaccines are widely used to control lumpy skin disease (LSD).•This is the first study to compare their efficacy in the field.•Incidence was significantly higher among RM65 compared to Neethling vaccinated cows.•Rate of Neethling associated disease was 0.38% among Neethling vaccinated cows.•Neethling efficacy is significantly higher but it can cause mild adverse effects.
