Modeling response of frosted flatwoods salamander populations to historic and predicted climate variables

•We modeled effects of historic climate data on Flatwoods salamander egg and larval survival.•Salamander reproductive success was dependent on modeled pond hydrology.•Model demonstrated large annual variation in salamander population size.•Relatively minor changes in precipitation would have large effects on population persistence.
