Role of enhanced solar radiation for degradation of triazophos pesticide in soil matrix

•Degradation of triazophos was fastest in submerged soil under varying light conditions.•Degradation efficiency increased from 70.6±3.1% to 92.2±1.6%, when normal sunlight intensity was doubled.•Sunlight flux density and degradation of pesticide were correlated positively.•Enhanced solar radiation and UV light resulted in comparable degradation of pesticide.•Enhanced solar radiation can be used as a greener and cost effective technique for pesticide degradation.
