Effects of adjusting cropping systems on utilization efficiency of climatic resources in Northeast China under future climate scenarios

•We examine dynamics of planting boundaries of different cropping systems in future.•High-resolution model RegCM3 data (0.25°C×0.25°C) under future A1B scenario are used.•We use agro-ecological zones model to calculate climatic potential productivities.•Three one-grade zones of cropping are divided by heat, water, topography and crop.•Contribution of adjusting cropping system to climate resource utilization is found.
