摘要

•Two Sagittaria trifolia L. populations collected in China were found to be highly resistant to bensulfuron-methyl.•In vitro ALS assays revealed that resistance was due to the reduced sensitivity of the ALS enzyme to bensulfuron-methyl.•Pro197 to Leu and Ser mutations might be responsible for the resistance to bensulfuron-methyl in S. trifolia populations.
