Numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer during convective drying of cylindrical quince slices

•The convective transfer coefficients are estimated from CFD calculations.•A new correlation for the Nusselt number is proposed for turbulent flow.•1-D heat and mass transport model is used for temperature and moisture calculations.•A single Arrhenius-type temperature dependent diffusion coefficient is used.•Satisfactory accuracy is obtained for the whole range of experimental conditions.
