Zeitschrift Fur Gastroenterologie(2012)
Abstract
Introduction: Among the rare causes of “difficult-to-diagnose-and-to-treat” gastrointestinal bleeding is the phenomenon of hemobilia, that is defined as bleeding into the biliary tree. Bleeding may be prolonged or brief, continuous or episodic, profuse or scant. Haemobilia may arise from trauma, inflammation, malignancy, iatrogenic causes or vascular anomalies and even spontaneously in the setting of coagulopathy.
