Successful endoscopic band ligation of gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE). A case report
Zeitschrift Fur Gastroenterologie(2011)
Abstract
Introduction: GAVE is an uncommon cause of acute or chronic upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The etiology is unknown, and it is more frequent in women, at older age, and in patients with chronic renal failure, systemic sclerosis or portal hypertension. Argon plasma coagulation (APC) is the recommended treatment modality in cases of significant bleeding, while surgical resection of the antrum is maintained for refractory cases.
