Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)in Parkinson Disease (PD) and Lewy Body Disease(LBD): Who Became to Dementia? (P4.196)

OBJECTIVE:The aim of this study is differentiate patients who progressed to dementia from those who stay stable during clinical follow up. BACKGROUND:It has been reported that the presence of MCI in PD/LBD involves risk of developing dementia. The neuropsychological profile of those who converted to dementia is poorly studied. DESIGN/METHODS:41 patients with PD/LBD diagnosis and a neuropsychological profile of MCI through comprehensive cognitive assessment were prospectively followed-up. Subjects were classified as converters or non-converters based on progression or not to dementia. Cognitive profiles and demographic variables we compared. Multivariate analysis was performed. RESULTS:Mean age was 74.8 (± 7.5). Mean follow-up period was 33months and 17.1% converted to dementia. The converters were older (p 0.03) and multivariate analysis showed worse performance on Trail Making Test A (p 0.02), Digit-Symbol (p 0.04), Hayling Test (p 0.01), Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) delayed recall (p 0.03) and RAVLT postinterference recall (p 0.04). CONCLUSIONS:Our data show that patients with PD/DLB MCI and worse performance in executive functions have increased risk of conversion to dementia.
