摘要
•The main oxygen source for the northern Indian Ocean is Southern-Hemisphere water.•Advection and vertical eddy mixing shift the ASOMZ to the central/eastern basin.•The BBOMZ is weaker because there is less detritus along the western boundary.•The OMZs lack a prominent annual cycle because remineralization is a slow process.
