•During ozonation studies with turbot in RAS, an Edwardsiellosis outbreak occurred.•Compared to controls, ozone reduced bacterial loading and nitrite in RAS.•Fish in ozonated treatments showed trends for improved survival and growth.•Ozone is a potential tool to manage farmed turbot infected with Edwardsiella tarda.
