Abstract
Latex allergy is still a public health problem generating expenses in your eviction. We report the case of a boy monosensitised to Hev b 8 (profilin) that underwent surgery without precautions for latex and without complications. Boy, 5 years old, with a history of perioral hyperemia since 6 months after contact with various foods. No history of previous surgeries or reaction after contact with latex. The prick test with latex extract (IPI ASAC Portugal) and latex gloves were negative. The specific IgE (ImmunoCAP ® Thermo Fisher) to latex and its fractions (rHev b 1, 3, 5, 6.01, 6.02, 8, 9 and 11) were positive only for the latex (1.0 KU / L) and its fractions: 1 (0.15 KU / L), 5 (0.19 KU / L), 6.02 (0.14 kU / L), 8 (2.85 kU / L), 9 (0.11 KU / L ) and 11 (0.16 KU / L). The prick to prick with all foods reported was positive only for mango, watermelon and orange. The triggering with latex glove (use test) and food were negative. The patient underwent surgery without avoidance of latex and without complications. We believe that this patient was sensitized only to the fraction Hev b 8 and, as already reported by other authors, the monosensitised to this fraction has been shown to be asymptomatic. The evaluation of sensitization to latex fractions showed crucial in the indication of procedure with or without latex.
