Abstract
Shell-free solid hydrogen films with a thickness of up to 25 μm were for the first time manufactured as targets for nuclear research. Films with a width of 3–10 mm are pushed away from a target generator with a constant velocity of 5–20 mm/s to the open space of the vacuum chamber, where they are irradiated by heavy ion beams.
