Abstract
The existence of the giant pairing vibration (GPV) in Sn-120 and Pb-208 was investigated using the (p,t) reaction at incident proton energies of 50 MeV and 60 MeV for the scattering angles 0 degrees and 7 degrees. No clear signature for the GPV was found, providing an upper limit for the cross section of sigma(max) = 0.2 mb. Theoretical interpretations for the low cross section of the GPV are discussed.
