Background: Children with celiac disease (CD) have low bone mineral content and density at diagnosis. After 12 months, the gluten-free diet (GFD) normalises bone metabolism and bone mass, but it is unclear whether supplementation with calcium and vitamin D can achieve the same results in less time.
