摘要

•We identified QTL associated with maize ear biomass and kernel number per plant.•QTL linked to kernel number per plant response to plant growth were also identified.•Predictions using QTL of model parameters were better than using QTL of traits per se.•Genotype specific plant growth was relevant for accurate kernel number and ear biomass predictions.
