•New procedure for the manufacture of stainless steel stamps is presented.•The procedure combines UV-lithography, gold electroplating, and electropolishing.•It is suitable for the fabrication of masters for roll-to-roll imprinting.•The imprints were used for the preparation of functional microchips.
