Evaluation of thermochemical and electrochemical data for the pyrochemical partitioning process

This study has been carried out in order to obtain a consistent set ofthennochemical and electrochemical data relevant for the pyrochemical processing of spent nuclear fueL Gibbs energies of fonnation in the supercooled state are obtained by critical evaluation of literature data for some rare-earth and actinide trichlorides. Activity coefficients of the metal halides in the molten LiCI-KCI salt are calculated from experimental emf studies published in literature. The relation between thermo- and electrochemical data is discussed.
