Strong-field ionization of three-dimensionally aligned naphthalene molecules: orbital modification and imprints of orbital nodal planes

Molecular-frame three-dimensional (3D) photoelectron momentum distributions (PMD) from strong-field ionization by circularly polarized laser pulses of 3D aligned naphthalene are obtained using tomographic reconstruction. The analysis of various two-dimensional (2D) cuts of the 3D PMD points to orbital modification in the presence of strong fields. The possibility. of observing signatures of the molecular orbital nodal planes in the 2D projections of the 3D PMD is also discussed.
