066EARLY TREATMENT WITH NON-HEPARIN BASED ANTICOAGULANTS IN PATIENTS WITH HEPARIN-INDUCED THROMBOCYTOPAENIA REDUCES 30-DAY MORTALITY AFTER CARDIAC SURGERY
Interactive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery(2014)
Abstract
Objectives: Heparin-induced thrombocytopaenia (HIT) occurs in 1–3% of patients following cardiac surgery and was shown to be associated with significantly higher early mortality. We evaluated the potential benefit of immediate treatment with non-heparin based anticoagulants in patients with suspected but unconfirmed HIT.
